Lest We Forget MADE IN JAPAN:
It was not too long ago, that as a young boy I remember, in the thirties almost everything you saw had a stamp on it stating "Made in Japan". The items we speak about were small insignificant items. The word was out that anything made in Japan was really not that good.
However, we were flooded with items and gimmicks; almost everything you picked up that was inexpensive was made in Japan. The public as well as the Government was naive. We sold then all kinds of metals, iron and steel. They in turn sold us everything one could think of that was easy to make and made cheaply; as it was sold dirt cheap. One could count on the fact that anything made in Japan soon after purchase; either, malfunctioned, broke, fell apart, or simply did not do what it is was supposed to do.
Then suddenly out of no where the Japanese Zero's flew over Pearl Harbor destroying a good part of our Naval Fleet; killing thousands of service people and civilians notwithstanding the many who were injured. We fought a very costly and bloody war going from island to island and finally President Truman did the right thing and ended the bloodshed. Yes, "Lest We Forget"!
For some reason or another, the Japanese want to better the Americans and if they cannot do it by fighting and conquering, they will attempt to do it economically. You may say trash and look the other way well, take a good look at General Motors, Ford and Chrysler, then tell me which way to look. Friends and allies, of course what other way can they accomplish this goal.
Of course we help them to accomplish this because that is just the way we are; TRUSTING and FORGIVING. I remember a time when General Motors could state and rightly so; that every third car on the road was a Chevy. Today every other car on the road is foreign and every third car is Japanese. LEST WE FORGETMADE IN CHINA:
Today we are flooded with items “Made In China” what does experience tell one. In addition if it happens not to be made in China odds are it is made in another Asian Country. China makes everything from watches to clothing. There is a lot to be learned from that. Look at all the armament they have and are creating as fast as they can (“made in China” remember we are dealing with a Communist Country and the state owns everything.) including; long range ballistic missiles, atomic bombs, an army possibly the largest in the world, etc., etc. And we are teaching them how to improve their economy.
Cement: Did you know that China has been buying cement in such large quantities that it has brought the US market to a point that our building costs have risen substantially because of the lack of cement.
Did you know they are preparing to hit our market with a three cars! From what I am made to understand they intend to kill the market with a price tag that is out of sight. However, the entrepreneur who put the deal together with Chery Automobile Company, a Chinese company owned by the Chinese Communist government, is Malcolm Bricklin a charlatan who has been bankrupt many times brokering deals to bring us different cars from different countries at low prices, at different times; losing everyone’s money but his own. He reminds me of “Mad Man Muntz” known as the bankruptcy king. Made millions on every bankruptcy he went through. Regardless this deal made with Chery is to bring 250,000 Chinese cars annually into the US starting in 2007. They have 3 models, a copy of a Chevy SUV (GM is presently suing), a four door sedan and a two door sharp coupe. This man has tried many times to break the back of the US market with his car deals and failed every time.
He tried in 1968 to bring in the Subaru 360, to sell at $1300.00 that failed miserably. In 1972 funded by the Canadian Government he started to manufacture his own car the Bricklin SV1; in 1974 he brought it to market and another one went south. They lost thirty two million and made only made 2800 cars. He then tried to import an Italian made car and that failed. In 1985 he took a shot with a Yugoslavian made vehicle called a Yugo to sell at $3995.00; bingo another miserable failure. In 2002 he tried to bring the Yugo back but the manufacturing plants were badly damaged by NATO bombers in the Yugoslavian situation. So here we go again but this time it seems like he might have a shot. One wonders why the Chinese Government does accept such a loser; you tell me why?
To quote Malcolm Bricklin:
"You know, if we don't make sure these cars are among the best in the world, we're going to get our ass handed to us, but if we do what we're supposed to do, this could be the deal that changes the industry.
Note:
Other partners in Visionary Vehicles include Maurice Strong, a former senior adviser to U.N.Secretary General Kofi Annan; Norwegian shipping magnate Per Arneberg; and New York construction executive John Cavanaugh.
Do you think our Government will place a large duty tax on these vehicles to keep them in line with the other car manufacturers? I don’t think so however, there is a small possibility that if President Bush is not blasted to Kingdome come with this Iraq war against terrorists he might do it. This is just the beginning for there is much more to come and in many other ways. Lest We Forget! Oh by the way one of the countries Chery will produce these cars is in IRAN!
They are arming; they are building; they are moving; they are threatening; they are bullying;
“LEST WE FORGET”
